Pop Star makes the long journey to Hamilton for the second time in a row today as he looks to get off the mark for the Coral Racing Club in his third appearance wearing the blue and white silks.

Pop Star heads north of the border once again this afternoon to Lanarkshire for the Alice Haynes team, as he looks to go one better than his agonising second place finish there at the end of May. It was a much improved effort that day following his underwhelming debut for the club, as he went down by just a nose in what was a nail-biting finish.

The form of that race has received a couple of boosts since, with the winner that day, Parisiac, since finishing second and third in subsequent efforts, and Hurt You Never (4th) winning on his next start also at Hamilton when reversing the form with Parisiac.
Alice Haynes confirmed to us that he came out of the race in great order and that she was pleased with the way he had run, indicating his return to form following a long summer break. She also mentioned that the plan would be to look for a similar contest back at Hamilton, given his form at the course has been generally encouraging throughout his career so far.
Pop Star and Aspire To Glory on the gallops earlier this week
Pop Star is set to face six rivals this afternoon, the same number as he did here last month, and one of those six includes the reopposing Hurt You Never who is now 3lb higher than for his fourth place finish at the end of May following his recent win. Our gelding is drawn in stall one, which means he is likely to be positioned in the middle of the track as oppose to the railing which he had last time when drawn in stall eight.
Despite the going description being Good last time out, there was certainly some cut in the ground following a spell of rain on the day and conditions are set to be similar today, with the going officially being listed as Good, Good to Soft ahead of racing.
Today will mark the first time that Kevin Stott rides for the Coral Racing Club. The Group 1 winning jockey, who was retained by Amo Racing earlier in his career, has spent time riding all over the world, including a spell in New Zealand at the back end of last year.

"Hi guys, Pop Star travelled up well yesterday and is set to run back over five furlongs. He's done well since his last run at the track, which we know he likes, and the ground should be similar to last time as well. Unfortunately he is drawn on the edge of the field which makes life tougher, but hopefully he can give another good account."
Chris Dixon, Racing TV analyst, previews Pop Star's chances at Hamilton this afternoon, and which of his rivals could put up a challenge
Pop Star bounced back to form when a close second here last time out and the form of that race is looking solid enough with the winner twice running well in defeat since and Hurt You Never who was in behind successful back here earlier this month. Given he meets that rival on slightly better terms, he should uphold the form but improvement might be required to go one better in what looks a fairly competitive race despite a small field.
Canon's House has thrived since switching to front running tactics and is unbeaten in two starts this season so should go well again despite being booted up 12lbs in the handicap for his latest win, with the time suggesting the handicapper might not quite have a hold of him yet. Bona Fortuna may well be the one to beat though, having shaped very nicely on his first start since wind surgery at York last time. That looked a strong race and the form has been boosted by the fourth horse since and there was enough in that run to suggest Mick Appleby’s horse, who was progressive after joining the yard last season, may still have more to offer.

Cairo, who was sent off at 100/1, also finished third in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot yesterday, so the yard is in solid enough form heading into today's race.
