Following on from that performance, Sycamore was raised two pounds in the handicaps, which Scott Dixon deemed to be a fair enough increase and not enough to deter him from turning our seven-year-old back out quickly. That was Sycamore's third win of his career, with two of those victories coming this year, and he also has two placed efforts to his name this year too, suggesting that he may be getting better with age and experience. 

Exciting young Apprentice jockey, Mikkel Mortensen, has been recruited to ride this evening, and he takes a valuable seven pounds off the back of Sycamore in his race today. It will also mark the firs time that the jockey has ridden for the Coral Racing Club, and with his tenth career win only one victory away, he'll be hoping it's a dream debut today.

The going is currently Good, Good to Soft in places on the Round Course, with showers forecast throughout the day, so there could end up being a little more cut in the ground than suggested in the going report.

Sycamore's Owners for the Day

As winners of the Owner for the Day competition, 10 lucky Coral Racing Club members have been given the chance to enjoy an exclusive owners experience for Sycamore's run at Nottingham this afternoon.

Each winner, along with a guest of their choosing, will receive free entry to Nottingham Racecourse, including exclusive access to Owners & Trainers areas. They'll have the opportunity to meet Sycamore and the Scott Dixon team, plus get to head into the parade ring before the race begins to be amongst all the other owners, trainers and jockeys. And last but by no means least, each winner will get to take home an equal 10% split of any prize money won by Sycamore.

Today's Class 5 contest is worth £8,000 in total, with the winner set to scoop £4,187.20 for their lucky owners.

Trainer and Jockey Statistics

Scott Dixon has been in fair form recently, scoring twice in the last fortnight from 17 runners. The most recent of those winners came at Nottingham earlier this month, when Defence Treaty won by just shy of a length over a mile and six furlongs. That combined with Sycamore's win three weeks ago has bumped him up to thirteen career wins at Nottingham, with the two mentioned being the only ones this season, from five total runs there. 

Mikkel Mortensen has had 9 winners from 94 rides in his fledgling career, with two of those wins coming from 29 rides this season. The promising 21-year-old has won twice in ten rides when enlisted by Scott Dixon, with both of those winners coming this season. He hasn't ridden at Nottingham with any frequency over the course of his riding career, only having gone there for six total rides, two of which came this season.
