Jonjo and AJ O'Neill – A New Partnership
Dual or combined training partnerships have become more and more common over the past few years, with each one coming with their own set of reasons as to why the decision has been made. In Jonjo and AJ's case, it was quite straightforward.
AJ had been Jonjo's assistant trainer for several years following his brief stint as an amateur jockey, in which he had an impressive record of 13 wins from 45 rides, and in his dad's words, it seemed like a 'natural progression' following on from his time as his assistant. Jonjo also expressed his excitement of AJ injecting a new energy and bringing new ideas to the table, including the plan to expand more into the flat racing scene and to increase the appeal of O'Neill Racing.
Since the start of the new season, the team at Jackdaws have certainly found a new gear, and have ramped up over 50 winners already including big victories with Springwell Bay and Red Dirt Road. Plus not to forget the Coral Racing Club's very own All The Glory who won in emphatic style on debut after joining in December and most recently posted a cracking effort in the Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh.
