Trainer Hugo Palmer was full of positives for Cast No Shadow in his update posted on the club earlier in the week following his entry for the race at Ripon today.
"He has a really good attitude, and he has plenty of speed, so while I think he’ll end up over 6f sooner rather than later, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to start him over the minimum trip."
"I wanted to start him on a straight track too, so Ripon should be perfect for him, and I’m really excited to get him started."

Cast No Shadow's sire, Ardad, had a very successful 2-year-old campaign. In that year he won 3 times, all of those over the 5f distance that Cast No Shadow runs over today, culminating with the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster.
Ardad has produced some solid progeny in the past, the most successful being three-time Group One winner Perfect Power. The colt won the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes as a two-year-old and the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot as a three-year-old.
Trainer Hugo Palmer has a strike-rate of 17% with two-year-olds in his career, with this year continuing in a similar fashion (6 wins from 38 starts at a rate of 16%). It's also rare to see him send a runner to Ripon, having only had 19 runners there in his career as a trainer.
Former two-time Flat Champion Jockey Paul Hanagan takes the reins today, the first time that he's been booked to ride a Coral Racing Club runner. He's ridden four times for Hugo Palmer this year, winning on one occasion.
