Star Performer of the Weekend

From Newbury and Newmarket to Market Rasen and Pontefract – the question is, who was your Star Performer of the Weekend and why?

Al Aasy oozed class in the opening Group 3 on the card at Newbury on Saturday, barely coming off the bridle under Jim Crowley to win comfortably by two lengths. Then later that day, the Coral Racing Club's very own Hey Day Baby made the trip to Market Rasen well worth it for the Jonjo & A J O'Neill team, as she was a runaway winner on just her second chase start, bounding clear after the final fence to win by 12 lengths.

On Sunday, the main action featured at Pontefract, and it was trainer Richard Fahey who stole the show with two impressive winners for owner Sheikh Al Maktoum. Powerful Glory took the first with a taking five and a half length win on debut after being heavily supported, and then Marine Wave won the feature listed race, making amends for her narrow defeat at Wolverhampton a few weeks ago at their Racing League meeting.
