HUNTINGDON COULD BE NEXT FOR ANNIE MC

Following her second place at Doncaster last week, trainer Jonjo O’Neill is considering the next assignment for our Club horse Annie Mc.

“Annie Mc came out of the Doncaster race really well, and while Zambella was clearly the best mare on the day, we did get a lot closer to her here than at Carlisle, and we reversed the Carlisle running with Maid O’Malley as well.

Connections of Zambella have spoken about a race at Uttoxeter in February for their mare, which would suit us as we could go to Huntingdon later this month, for the Lady Protectress Mares’ Chase, a race she won two years ago, [when it was switched to Warwick].

Another possible option could be to step her up in trip to three miles, at this stage of her career I think she might enjoy that, as they would go a little less quick.  We haven’t run her over that far since her hurdling days so it could be worth a try, but if we got softer ground at Huntingdon, and no Zambella to take on, she’s still one of the best mares around over the shorter trip and this would be a lovely prize to go for.

The most important thing is she is still enjoying her racing, she’s nine now but has picked up decent prize money in both starts this season, has come out of the races well, and has given her owners plenty of fun, and you really can’t ask for more than that!”
