ANNIE MC STILL ON TRACK DESPITE MISSING TUESDAY CANTER

Annie Mc missed her usual work morning on Tuesday, as she had some swelling in one of her legs.  Our initial thoughts were that it was nothing serious – certainly not a recurrence of any previous issues with her legs – and that was confirmed when the vet checked her over and found she’d just nicked herself, and that minor cut had caused the swelling.

We don’t know exactly how she did it, they can bang themselves in the stable, or catch a leg with another hoof, but that’s the sort of little thing that happens to horses all the time, I suppose it’s the equivalent of a child falling over and grazing their knee, they all do it and there’s no harm done, but we’d always get them checked out to make sure they’re OK.  As I say it did mean she missed Tuesday’s work, but she’ll be back out later this week so this won’t have set her back at all, as she would have only been cantering, we’re happy with her fitness levels following that first run at Carlisle, it’s just about keeping her ticking over now she’s had the benefit of a race.

After such a dry autumn we now have the possibility of very cold weather, fingers-crossed this won’t cause too much disruption to the programme as we really don’t want to be losing fixtures at this time of the season.  All being well the plan would be to get Annie back out in the next few weeks, with the Doncaster race towards the end of the month that she won in 2020 very much in our minds.
