Aspire To Glory ready to step up to a mile – latest from Alice Haynes

10 Feb 2024
Aspire To Glory
Aspire To Glory came out of his last race well, unfortunately a combination of a slow start and an extremely well-handicapped winner meant it wasn’t his day at Kempton, but considering how much ground he gave up at the start, he did very well to finish as close up as he did.

He’s ready to step up in trip to a mile now, and so the plan is to take him back to Kempton next Wednesday, for a 0–55 handicap only available to three-year-olds over the mile. Tommie Jakes will ride once again as they get on so well together.

The slow start last time wouldn’t worry me as it’s not something he has made a habit of doing, and Tommie will be aware of the possibility of it happening again anyway. I’d be very hopeful he’s just going to keep improving, and expect him to rate higher than the grade he’s currently in.
