A trip to Ireland for one of their most unique racedays of the year could be on the cards next month for Aspire To Glory
His form has been ever so consistent so far in 2025, so perhaps you could say he was due a performance like this sooner or later, but jockey Kieran O'Neill was keen to point out he thought the surface at the track could've played a big factor.
Due to the scorching weather in the UK over the weeks leading up to the race, Kieran felt as though the tapeta was riding much quicker than it usually would, and so it was just too much for Aspire To Glory to put his best foot forward and show the turn of pace he has done previously when racing on ground which has a little more give.
Despite that frustrating effort, trainer Alice Haynes has been happy with how Aspire To Glory has shown up at home since, and now has set her sights on a very exciting potential trip to Ireland for Laytown's unique yearly meeting which takes place on the beach.
We caught up with Alice yesterday and this is what she had to say:
"Aspire To Glory came out of his last race at Wolverhampton absolutely fine, which is the main thing, so we lost very little in trying. For his next run we are thinking something quite different though!
Once a year they race on the beach at Laytown in Ireland, this year’s meeting is on September 4th, and our plan is to take Aspire on his travels. He’s a very versatile horse, and I really think this new challenge would suit him.
They race over seven furlongs so the trip would be right for him, and it would be very exciting to break new ground for the Coral Racing Club with a runner at this unique meeting, I’m sure the winning owners would have a great time!"
With the prospect of heading to Laytown in September, trainer Alice Haynes is keen on keeping Aspire To Glory active and would like to give him one more run ahead that potential contest. Following today's latest round of entries, he has been entered in the Class 6 Handicap (20:00) over seven furlongs at Chelmsford on Thursday 21st August.
