Aspire To Glory in good form following Kempton test – latest from Alice Haynes
After breaking away slowly, the Coral Racing Club gelding made steady headway under Kieran O'Neill before becoming short of room and having to readjust. Despite that, he was able to stay on well towards the finish, coming home in 5th and collecting some prize money for the Owners for the Day in attendance.
Alice Haynes has provided an update on how Aspire To Glory has come out of the race and on what the future holds.
Aspire To Glory came out of his Kempton race well, and while the bare result perhaps wasn’t what we were hoping for, it was good to see him finish his race off properly. He was a bit slowly away, didn’t settle early on, and was then a bit tight for space at a crucial time, so taking all this into account, to see him stay on and claim fifth spot was actually really encouraging.
It wasn’t easy to make up ground, the surface was quite deep and favoured those closer to the space, so this definitely gives us something to build on. It was the first run where he wasn’t over-enthusiastic to the point where he used up too much energy, and the seven furlong trip is where we’ll stick with him for his next run. Next year I can see him getting a mile as well.
He had a weekend in the sun which will have been great for him, and after an easy week we’ll step him back up again, but he’s race fit now so it’s about keeping him at this level. It was great to meet the club members who were at Kempton, we just managed to pick up some prize money too!
