WATCH: Hey Day Baby remains over hurdles and heads to Fontwell for her next test

Hey Day Baby
Hey Day Baby is to remain over hurdles for her next contest and has been declared in Division I of the Class 5 Mares' Novices' Limited Handicap (19:40) over 2m3f at Fontwell this Wednesday.

The club's six-year-old mare has been off the track since pulling up on soft ground at Hereford last time out, but has been schooling well at home recently in the build-up to her next outing.

The O'Neill team have also been putting in plenty of work to try help her to settle better in races so she can preserve her energy and see out the trip better. Recently she's had a tendency to shoot off in front too enthusiastically, and when you combine that with the heavy ground she's had to face in her last two starts, it was always going to be a difficult task, which is why she's had to be pulled up on both occasions.

The good news is the weather forecast for Fontwell is dry over the next 24 hours so we're hopeful the ground will be much more to her liking come 19:40 tomorrow evening.

This will be Hey Day Baby's first start since Jonjo O'Neill's son, A J, was added to the license at Jackdaws Castle at the start of this month, so there's no doubt he'll be hopeful of seeing a much improved performance from her.
