Early summer break for Hey Day Baby following minor setback – latest update from Jonjo O'Neill
Hey Day Baby pulled out lame for a couple of days running last week, and she had some soreness in her left hind fetlock, so we got her scanned by the vet and that picked up that she had some inflammation in her ligament.
We had hoped to give her one more run over hurdles before a summer break, but given this setback – and the good news is it’s nothing overly serious – she’ll have eight weeks on the horsewalker to keep her fitness ticking over and then we’ll turn her out into the field for a break for another eight weeks.
At that point we can bring her back into full training and think about a new season campaign for her. She has a lovely temperament and takes all this in her stride, so although it’s disappointing we’ve lost these few weeks, she’s still a young horse and we’ll have lots to look forward to.
