Hey Day Baby update: She's done everything we've asked of her so far
Latest update from your Coral Racing Club trainer, Jonjo O'Neill:
Hey Day Baby continues to settle in well, we’ve given her time to adjust to her new surroundings, as coming from an Irish point-to-point yard, this is like her starting a new school and moving into a new home, at the same time, so it’s important to let her get used to things.
We’ve had her cantering away for a couple of weeks now, we’ve not been asking too much of her at this stage, as to rush her at this early stage of her career could have the opposite effect and set her back, rather than bring her forward. The most important thing to report is there is nothing important to report! A week when the horse does everything we ask of it without any drama is a good week.
As such, she’d be a good few weeks off a run, and I wouldn’t want to start her off in heavy, winter ground either, but when she is ready, we’d be looking to run her in a Bumper first rather than a novice hurdle to make her first proper racecourse experience as straightforward as possible.
