'She should appreciate this better ground' – latest Hey Day Baby update

14 Jun 2023
Hey Day Baby

Hey Day Baby is in great form, she’s done everything we’ve asked of her in terms of her work at home and is as fit as we would want her after a break like this.

Like us humans, she’s really thrived for this spell of summer weather too and her coat looks great, which is also a good indicator that she’s taking her work well.

As we’ve done plenty with her we can now look to get her back on the racecourse, and we’ve picked out a couple of options for her next week. There’s Stratford on Tuesday 20th, a mares’ novice hurdle over two and a quarter miles and Worcester the following day, again a novice hurdle against her own sex but over 2 miles.

Both of these tracks offer decent, safe, summer jumping going, so we’d look to enter her in both and decide nearer the time where we will go. We obviously did lose some time with her but it could be a blessing, as she should appreciate this better ground. In general the standard is a little bit lower at this time of the year, so it’s a good time for her to gain some experience.
