We were hoping Hey Day Baby had got over the viral infection she picked up earlier this month, but it’s just hung around and she’s still a bit a snotty.

The weather is a factor in that, it’s been quite mild during the day, but colder at night, so their body temperature goes up and down, they can get a bit sweaty under their rugs, and these little coughs and colds hang around longer than normal.

It's frustrating but it is just a minor niggle, and once she’s got over it fully, we can step her work back up, but she will have an easy week or two now. The plan hasn’t changed though, in that we’ll look to start her off in a mares’ bumper, hopefully some time in March now.

It was great to meet some of you here at Jackdaws this week, we hope you all enjoyed the morning as much as we did, and Hey Day Baby certainly enjoyed all the carrots you fed her!
