WATCH: Katalyst spends some time in the Equine Spa after sustaining a minor injury to one of her joints
She's sound at home, it's just a little bit of filling in the joint and my preference was to get her checked before we send her for the stalls test, just in case the nature of the injury is more serious than it seems.
When the vet came in, we trotted Katalyst up and did the usual pre workout routines to see how she would react and it is apparent that she's still quite sore in that joint and it's still visibly inflamed. We're going to keep an eye on the joint to see if it goes down with the anti-inflammatories that have been prescribed for her, and if the issue persists then we'll send her away to get some more tests done to find out the exact cause of the problem. We've had her in the spa, which you can see in the video above, to help with the healing process. The enclosed nature of the spa should also help her to get more comfortable in that environment, which we hope will improve the way she feels in the stalls on the track.
With that in mind, we're looking at getting her booked into a stalls test in just under two weeks time to give her the time to recover and get more comfortable, as we don't want her going at less than 100% and potentially failing the test if she's not quite right. We're looking at running her the week after the stalls test, as there are plenty of viable options for her debut out there at this time of year, but it's obviously frustrating to have to hold her back for a little bit longer.
