Katalyst may not have got the result we were hoping for at Ffos Las on Friday but our three-year-old filly once again showed some of the qualities that have produced several encouraging performances this summer.

Breaking sharply from the stalls, Katalyst was quickly into her stride and showed plenty of early speed to take up the running in the 1m2f handicap. She continued to lead as the field made its way towards the closing stages before coming under pressure around three furlongs from home.

After being headed, Katalyst was unable to sustain her effort and weakened inside the final two furlongs, coming home ninth behind the eventual winner, Give Me Sun.

Whilst Friday's result was disappointing, there have been plenty of positives to take from Katalyst's campaign this summer. Since stepping up in trip she has finished fourth at Nottingham, gone agonisingly close when beaten by just a short head into second at the same track and produced another solid fourth-place effort at Windsor.

Still only three, Katalyst remains a young and developing filly and every race is another opportunity for her to learn and progress. We've already seen her evolve throughout the season as she gains more experience and the encouraging performances she has produced along the way have shown she possesses the ability to be competitive at this level.

Her sharp start and natural early speed were again evident at Ffos Las and whilst things didn't ultimately work out for her on Friday, there is still plenty to look forwards to as she continues her journey.
