'She's galloped all the way to the line' | Raceday Highlights from Lady Mendoza's latest effort at Cartmel
Having made a positive start to the season at the end of May, trainer Rebecca Menzies decided to return to Cartmel with Lady Mendoza to take on the same course and distance that she made an encouraging return at last time out.
Lady Mendoza jumped off from the start in relatively keen fashion, taking up a prominent position on the outside of the field as they approached the first. She remained in the front runners of the pack for the first couple of hurdles, but began to seemingly weaken after the fourth flight before dropping to the rear of the field.
Consequently, jockey Brian Hughes, who's been a persistent servant in the saddle with Lady Mendoza so far in her career, had to get to work earlier than he probably would've liked, but his perseverance began to pay off with two to jump. As the pace of the race caught up with plenty of Lady Mendoza's rivals, she continued to stay on in gritty fashion to pick some of them off in the closing stages of the race.

As a result of the pair's determination, they eventually came home in a respectable sixth place, only just missing out on collecting some prize money by one spot for her 10 owners for the day.
It's obviously frustrating that Lady Mendoza couldn't follow up her fourth place finish at the the end of May, but hopefully she can bounce back on her next start which may include a step up in trip back to three miles as Brian suggests in his post-race interview.

Check back soon to find out where she'll be heading for her next run for the Coral Racing Club and how you could be in attendance as one of her lucky Owners!
