Lady Mendoza raring to go again following Cartmel third last week – latest from Rebecca Menzies
She went there very fit that day, so we haven’t had to do much with her at home since, it’s just been a case of cantering her and keeping her ticking away. Although she was fit and well heading into her run at Cartmel, it had been quite a while since her previous run at Musselburgh in November, so I’m hopeful she’ll step forward for that outing on her next run.
We’ve given her an entry at Uttoxeter this coming Saturday in the Mares’ Handicap Hurdle over just short of three miles, and that does look the right race for her. She actually finished third in the race last year, but she was never really travelling that day, and she’ll head there in much better form this weekend.
There is a bit of a rain forecast later on this week, so we’ll just keep an eye on the underfoot conditions as we don’t want to waste a run on ground that’s softer than ideal. As long as it’s no worse than good ground then we’ll head there, but anything softer than that we’d have to have a close look as I really want her next outing to be a winning one.
We’ll keep a close eye on the weather forecast over the coming days, and hopefully we can look forward to getting Lady Mendoza back on the racecourse this weekend.
