Lady Mendoza set for trip to Perth for their season finale card
Following her last run, where she finished strongly after appearing to weaken much earlier into the race, Rebecca Menzies was keen to get Lady Mendoza back out on track as soon as possible. This was met with some difficulty, as there are a lack of races for horse rated in Lady Mendoza's bracket over the distance that we know that she'd prefer. A date at Sedgefield was outlined initially, but at the entry stage it appeared as though Lady Mendoza wouldn't make the cut, with horses rated far higher than her given entries in the contest.
From there, attention turned to Perth's season ending card on Wednesday 24th September, where there's a hurdles race over the three mile trip for horses rated up to 95. It's a course and distance that Lady Mendoza knows, having finished fourth there in July of last year. Hopefully the flat nature of the course at Perth should play to Lady Mendoza's strengths and not give her a chance slow down and lose rhythm, as she has at some other, more undulating tracks.
