Lady Mendoza 'sitting tight' for another long distance contest after fifth-place finish at Cartmel
Our eight-year-old daughter of Court Cave started the race well, and was in touch with the leaders on the outside of the pack throughout the opening stages of the contest. She began to drop back slightly through the field around midway through, but kept herself in a share of fifth position only a few lengths off the leaders.
As the race began to intensify, Lady Mendoza became outpaced and gradually started to lose ground, slipping down the field and looking like she'd keep going backwards. However, to her credit, she once again stuck to her task willingly under a drive from Brian Hughes and eventually came home in fifth place, picking up a share of £185 for each of her owners in doing so.
WATCH: Brian Hughes reflects on Lady Mendoza's most recent Cartmel performance

We caught up with Rebecca Menzies to get the latest on Lady Mendoza after the race and she had this to say:
"When Brian Hughes got off Lady Mendoza following her last run at Cartmel, he was keen to say that he thought we should give her another go, with a marathon trip the aim, so we were considering a 3m3f handicap hurdle at Sedgefield on Thursday 4th September.
Stay tuned for the next update from Howe Hills to find out when and where Lady Mendoza could be making her next appearance for the Coral Racing Club.
