Lady Mendoza 'fit as a flea' ahead of Doncaster on Sunday – latest update from Rebecca Menzies
We are all set for Doncaster on Sunday with Lady Mendoza, so it’s just a case of hoping the weather is kind to us between now and the weekend.
It’s currently soft, good to soft in places at Doncaster, and there isn’t much rain forecast at all over the next few days, so hopefully the ground will be absolutely perfect for her.
She’s as fit as a flea at home, and she’s quite a big mare, so I’d say this is probably the lightest I’ve ever had seen her since she arrived here. She’s fresh, and she’s in really good form going into it, so we are all very happy with her.
We’ve taken it easy with her as we’d rather she went there fresh rather than overcooked, so she’s just been doing some steady work on the round gallop here over the last few days, and I’d say we’ll just do one piece of fast work on Thursday to get a good blow into her, and then she’ll be ready to go for the weekend.
I can’t wait to see her back on the track on Sunday, and I think she’ll go there with a really good chance of finally getting her head in front for us.
