Potential trip to Catterick on the cards for Lady Mendoza – latest from Rebecca Menzies

Lady Mendoza

Lady Mendoza is in good order, but she’s not a big fan of the wet ground, so the flooding we’ve had of late isn’t exactly to her liking.

She’s ticking away nicely at home, but she’ll definitely be much happier once we get some drier weather.

We did enter her in that mares’ race at Doncaster over the Christmas period, but we just weren’t 100% happy with her at home, so we thought it was worth giving her a bit more time. We have her entered at Catterick in a mares’ race on Thursday 11th January, and providing the ground isn’t too testing, that could be a good opportunity for her.

She did run at Catterick last year on bad ground and really didn’t enjoy it, but hopefully we’ll have a drier spell over the next week, and it will just be a case of monitoring the weather forecast and seeing how it pans out.

We know she goes well fresh, so we don’t have to rush her, it’s just a case of finding the right race and the right ground conditions for her. Once we do that, hopefully she’ll be able to get off the mark for us!
