On the hunt for our fifth horse
We're looking for a horse that is fit and forward enough mentally that we can send hurdling, or maybe even chasing, this season.
They have been keeping in touch with their contacts in Ireland to see if there are any suitable horses that fit the bill for sale coming out of Irish Point-to-Point yards (these are commercial operations that produce and train young jump racehorses with the purpose of selling them to race in the UK and Ireland).
The O'Neill team — Jonjo, his sons Jonjo Jnr and AJ, and assistant Joe O'Neill — have also been monitoring the recent horses in training sales in the UK to see if there are any for sale that have run on the Flat this season and might be ideal for going jumping. To date this hasn't thrown up any candidates.
So now the team are heading to the Tattersalls Sale at Cheltenham Racecourse on Friday evening (11th November) where we hope to land our fifth racehorse. We will keep you informed of how we get on.
