Phoenix Of Dreams has come out of his Redcar win particularly well, at this time of year horses can just be going over the top and have had enough for the season, but he’s not showing any of those signs yet, which is great.

He was fully entitled to win at Redcar, it looked a great opportunity and so it proved, but he deserved the victory after his earlier efforts so it was still very pleasing to see. His handicap rating was left at 77, at odds of 1-10 he didn’t do anything he wasn’t expected to do at Redcar, so I’m glad the handicapper didn’t overreact.

Because he’s in good form, we’re looking at running him again, and have identified a 0 -78 handicap over six furlongs at Newcastle on Friday 22nd.

He’s run well on the all-weather, and Newcastle’s is a lovely surface, and I know the Coral Racing Club has enjoyed success there before, so hopefully we can add to that record!
