Phoenix Of Dreams puts in a solid display on his return to the track

Phoenix Of Dreams put in an impressive performance on Thursday, finishing second at Southwell on his first start since April.
Phoenix Of Dreams announced his return to the racecourse in fantastic fashion on earlier this week, coming home in second place following a lengthy break, made even longer by an issue in the stalls last month at Ayr. He appeared to have put those demons well and truly to bed at Southwell, going into the stalls with no issues and breaking away perfectly at the start of the contest. Jockey, Jack Mitchell, held Phoenix Of Dreams up in midfield through the early stages of the race, as the field travelled very quickly into the race. Our five-year-old conserved his energy nicely throughout the contest before Mitchell broke for home off the final turn. The pair went second on the straight but had nothing to match the eventual winner of the race, Feel The Need, who was coming to Southwell carrying the same handicap mark that he finished a half length second with in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster two weeks ago.

Attention will turn to where Phoenix Of Dreams will run next now, and we caught up with trainer, Sean Quinn, this morning to find out how our stable star came out of the race and what the next potential steps could be.
"We're really pleased with how Phoenix Of Dreams performed last night. It was an encouraging run off the back of a long layoff, I thought there were plenty of positives to take from the run and hopefully that will tee him up nicely for the late autumn period into the winter months.
I think we just bumped into a well handicapped horse at Southwell to be honest. Feel The Need finished second in the Leger Legends race and his handicap mark was unchanged, if not for him just squeezing into the race with that mark then we'd have been back in the winners enclosure.
The main thing is that Phoenix Of Dreams has come out of the race well, he's eaten up this morning and looks like a horse who's enjoyed a good run. We'll probably give him two to three weeks before we run him again just to give him a bit of a break between races.
It was a great run and we're looking forward to the rest of the year with him"
