Phoenix Of Dreams developing well ahead of flat turf season – latest from Highfield Stables

Phoenix Of Dreams

We’re all thrilled with how Phoenix Of Dreams is doing at the moment, and while it was disappointing that we didn’t manage to get a run into him last year, he really does seem to have grown up and developed with that extra time he’s had.

He’s fully recovered from that little cut he gave himself when he had a slip over Christmas, and he seems to be moving really well now he’s over that.

We’ve just steadily got him back into the swing of things of late, so he’s been cantering in our indoor arena for the last few days, and we’ve just now got him outside coming up the gallop, but we’ll keep everything nice and relaxed for him at this stage and won’t ask too many questions of him. We are still probably 6-8 weeks off a run with him, so we’ll find a race either at the end of April or beginning of May and work back from there.

He did all his stalls work last year, so we’ll only need to do a tiny bit in the starting stalls just to refresh his memory, but it’s just a case now of gradually building his fitness and getting him ready for that racecourse debut in the spring.
