WATCH: Rockstar Icon leads from the front on the gallops as trainer Oliver Cole explains his plan to step him up in trip for his next start
As we know it's not been an easy task over the past year or so with our four-year-old gelding due to the fact he's had a series of setbacks, mainly with his breathing whilst racing. The team at Whatcombe have continued to take great care of him to ensure he's been in the best shape possible each time he's been in action, but unfortunately he just hasn't produced the level we'd have hoped for.
In his latest video update (above), trainer Oliver Cole discusses how he's going to look to step Rockstar Icon up in trip to 1m2f for his next start, which could be at Leicester next Tuesday. He mentions how Rockstar Icon's dam won over two miles, and his sire, Sixties Icon, won the St Leger back in 2006, so there's plenty of stamina in his pedigree which could suggest he'll appreciate the longer distance.
