Rockstar Icon enjoyed his return to the gallops – latest update from Oliver Cole
Rockstar Icon returned to the gallops earlier this week for the first time since his injury, so this is an important step.
We really are taking our time with him, as we want to make sure he is over his setback.
Two-year-olds require special care, as you see them fill out and become stronger in their transition into their three-year-old campaigns. We would not want to push him too hard and end up with another injury.
The horse looks well in himself, and despite his inactivity, he does not look like he has put on too much weight. I think he enjoyed himself on the gallops earlier this week, as it was probably a nice change for him, after a lot of box rest. We all know ourselves what it can be like when you are stuck indoors for large periods, you miss getting out and about.
Unfortunately, I don’t think we are anywhere near ready for a trip to the races just yet. I know that is frustrating, especially after his positive performance at Haydock back in June. The all-weather will be an option for him over the winter, and we know for sure, whatever happens later this year, we have a lovely horse for the Flat season in 2024.
