'West End Boy came out of his Sandown race in great shape' – latest update from Joe Tizzard
West End Boy came out of his Sandown race in great shape. It was a really pleasing debut run, and will have brought him on loads, both in terms of his race fitness and also what he will have learned from the whole experience.
We’ve kept him ticking over at home since the race, we just want to keep his fitness at the level we’re at now. He jumped really well at Sandown, especially for a debut run, but we might give him another schooling session before his next run for some variety as well as keeping his jumping up to scratch.
On the subject of his next run, all being well in the next week or so, I’d be looking for his second race. Another run over two miles will be perfect, it will all be part of his education, and he will need three runs to get his handicap mark, so the sooner we can get these initial runs into him, the better.
