Raceday LIVE Preview

Aspire To Glory was back in work not long after making the move to Dylan Cunha and the South African trainer has been really complimentary of his time on the Warren Hill gallops so far. A benefit of moving him just across the road is that he's been able to continue to work in the same surroundings and in the same places as he was before, and that's definitely helped him settle into his new home.

The team at Phantom House Stables have made the decision to send Aspire To Glory back down in trip to six furlongs today for his reappearance run, as they believe it'll help him get back to full racing fitness without exerting too much energy. Having been off the track for over 200 days, there's no doubt he will be fresh and in need of the run, so there's no doubt that Dylan will be hoping he takes a good step forward after today's effort.

Aspire To Glory lines up against ten rivals this evening, including three former course and distance winners. One of those winners, Pinjarra, comes into the contest carrying top weight, having been hiked up four pounds for a Chelmsford victory last time out. It should be noted that despite having been off the track for a considerable amount of time, Aspire To Glory is the only other horse that's chasing back-to-back victories. Amerjeet will be looking to make amends after a disappointing run last time out, which saw him finish eighth after being sent off as the favourite, meanwhile Alfa Sea Breeze and Bullington Bry line up as the only maidens in the field, looking to get off the mark tonight.

Racing TV Analyst, Chris Dixon, looks ahead at Aspire To Glory's race at Southwell and how he might fare in his return to the racecourse

With Alice Haynes having retired from the training ranks Aspire To Glory starts out for his new stable at Southwell on Saturday. Although he hasn’t won at this track he has run well there a couple of times so it is a suitable test & it will be interesting to see how he copes with a drop back in trip. My suspicion is he could be effective at it given his free going nature but perhaps the run will be needed as he returns from a 205 day break.

Pinjarra comes into the race in form & will ensure the race is run at a solid tempo which should suit Aspire To Glory who appears to have a nice draw in stall 2. Beelzebub hasn’t fared so well on the draw front but did run well from a similarly poor berth at Kempton last time and is potentially well handicapped so is worth keeping an eye on with Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle. Man On A Mission hasn’t won for a while but has gone close a couple of times recently, including when caught too far back at Kempton last time & looks a danger to all.

Raceday update from trainer, Dylan Cunha

"We've obviously dropped him to six furlongs today, which I don't think is his ideal trip, but we wanted to get him out in similar company to see just where we're at with him before we look ahead to the rest of the season and he's been working well at home and he looks great. We're drawn well in stall 2 on the inside which is ideal around Southwell and we're hoping he runs a massive race from there this evening, there isn't any reason he can't necessarily win the race either.

It's a nice race for us to get going with him. We'll learn all about him and get as much feedback from today's rider, Luke Morris, as possible so we'll know exactly where we stand with him.

Good luck all!
"

Trainer and Jockey Statistics

Dylan Cunha has been relatively quiet recently, having had 15 runners in the past fortnight with just one winner, that actually came over fences. The trainer has eight winners at the Nottinghamshire track to his name, but is yet to register one in 12 visits this season, so hopefully he can get off the mark at the course with Aspire To Glory tonight.

Luke Morris has been in solid form as of late, with five winners coming from 36 rides, including one at Newcastle on Wednesday. Morris is somewhat of an expert at Southwell, having ridden the course an astonishing 1,745 times and winning on 177 of those occasions. He's also score three times there this season, and will be looking to add to that tally this evening.
