Raceday LIVE Preview
Aspire To Glory continues his journey with Dylan Cunha later today as he heads back to Southwell for his second run of the year. He's ran twice over course and distance in his career to date, finishing second on both occasions, with Southwell remaining the only British all-weather track that Aspire To Glory hasn't won at. His last appearance over this track and trip was almost a year ago today when he was unfortunate to finish second, only missing out by a head after being passed in the very final stages of the race.
In his first effort under the stewardship of trainer Dylan Cunha, Aspire To Glory finished last in a six furlong contest, also here at Southwell. Despite the result looking poor on the face of it, the run did come 205 days after his last and was over a trip slightly less than ideal for our five-year-old. After the race, Dylan told us that he'd almost certainly come on for the run following what was such a significant break, and that he'd be stepping up in trip for his next race, back to a distance that we know he's more comfortable over.

Today's race looks to be a pretty hot contest for the grade, with nine of the eleven rivals Aspire To Glory is set to face having won before. Of those nine former winners, three have tasted success over course and distance, including Rusheen Boy who landed his third victory over seven furlongs at Southwell last time out. James Owen's Orbital Chime looks likely to be sent off as the favourite as he looks to continue his progress having finished third and then second in his last two runs, only losing out by half a length on both occasions.
Aspire To Glory has been drawn in stall nine, and although that's fairly wide, he should be able to drop in and find some cover in the early going of the race. He has managed to win from similar draws the the past, and came from stall seven to finish second here last year. Jockey Rhys Clutterbuck takes the ride today in what will be his first in the Coral Racing Club silks. The twenty-four year old has been a regular pilot for Dylan's runners over the past few years, notching up 181 rides which has included 27 winners at an impressive 15% strike-rate.

Raceday update from Aspire To Glory's trainer, Dylan Cunha
"Aspire To Glory runs over seven furlongs at Southwell this evening, drawn in stall nine with Rhys Clutterbuck onboard for the first time.
He's been okay at home, he wasn't quite up to his best last time out so we're hoping this slight step up in trip gets the best out of him tonight. He's close to being at full fitness now and this run should see him spot on for the rest of the summer. I think we'll be likely to step him up to a mile next time out, although that does depend on how well he does tonight.
He's been doing it all at home, although he took a couple of days to get over the last run which was to be expected given the amount of time he spent off the track prior to that race.
Best of luck tonight, fingers crossed Aspire To Glory takes another step forward this evening."
Racing TV Analyst, Chris Dixon, looks ahead at Aspire To Glory's race at Southwell this evening and gives his thoughts on how he might fare
Aspire To Glory didn’t show a great deal on his first start for a new stable when returning from some time off last month but had genuine excuses. Firstly, he was entitled to need the run on his first outing for 205 days while the trip of six furlongs was always likely to be too sharp. A big jump forward will be required to get competitive and the handicapper hasn’t moved him for that latest run, but at least he now has a run behind him and is back to a more suitable trip of 7f. Pace wise it looks as though this should be a well run contest, something that has always suited Aspire To Glory so that goes down as a positive and is another factor to give hope that he can be more competitive even if getting his head in front here may prove a big ask.
In terms of opposition, Orbital Chime comes into the race in good form but doesn’t appeal as entirely straightforward, while Rainwater doesn’t win very often but ran better than the bare result last time, had been in fair form previously and looks on a decent mark in a race that should be run to suit. Dancing With Drums is unexposed and may have more to offer, while Rusheen Boy and Call Glory both arrive in form.
Trainer and Jockey Statistics
Dylan Cunha has scored twice from 13 runners in the last two weeks, with the last one coming two days ago at Leicester. He's had seven winners from 68 runners this season, with one of those coming at Southwell, adding to the eight that he had at the track going into the year.
Rhys Clutterbuck has been pretty quiet recently, only picking up five rides in the last fortnight, however he does have a great record at Southwell in his career, winning nine times from 49 rides. He's also got a 15% strike rate when riding for Dylan Cunha, winning 27 times for the Newmarket trainer, and is set to ride for him for the first time in 2026 this evening.
