Raceday LIVE Preview

Fresh from his brilliant victory at Wolverhampton last month, our popular five-year-old Aspire To Glory returns to Dunstall Park on Tuesday evening looking to make it back-to-back wins for Coral Racing Club. Our boy was back to his battling best on his latest appearance, making virtually all the running under Tom Marquand before showing plenty of grit to hold off Sanditon by three-quarters of a length. It was a performance full of enthusiasm and courage which secured his seventh career victory and provided another memorable moment for Club members.

Aspire To Glory lines up in the 17:00 Download The Raceday Ready App Apprentice Handicap (Division II), a Class 6 contest over seven furlongs and 36 yards on Wolverhampton's Tapeta surface. Trained by Dylan Cunha, he returns to the same course and distance as his latest success but faces a slightly tougher task following a 3lb rise in the handicap. He now races off an official rating of 50 and carries 9st 5lb, although the booking of apprentice Jake J Slawson brings a valuable 7lb claim into play. Drawn in stall one, Aspire To Glory has an opportunity to establish a prominent position from the outset, particularly if he can reproduce the sharp break and early enthusiasm that served him so well last time. With his confidence restored and conditions clearly to his liking, there are plenty of positives heading into this latest assignment.

The Opposition

Nine runners are set to go to post and several of Aspire To Glory's rivals have previous winning form at Wolverhampton.

Homme De Fer looks a particularly interesting opponent for trainer Tony Carroll. The five-year-old is a previous course-and-distance winner and has demonstrated consistency in recent outings, including a sequence of three third-place finishes. His experience around Dunstall Park makes him one to respect. Snooze Lane, trained by Sarah Hollinshead, is another with proven form at the track. The seven-year-old finished third on his latest appearance and has the experience to make his presence felt if returning to his best. Ravenglass will be a familiar face to our boy, having finished fourth behind him at Wolverhampton last time. The Adrian Wintle-trained gelding has also won over this course and distance and will be looking to reverse that form. Havana Club brings further winning course form into the equation, while Fulford Cross, Hopjes, Lady Delila and Pacific Prince complete the opposition in what looks a competitive handicap.

There is plenty to encourage Coral Racing Club members ahead of Tuesday's contest. Aspire To Glory has already demonstrated his effectiveness around Wolverhampton and his latest performance suggested he remains thoroughly enthusiastic about his racing. The 3lb rise in the weights presents another challenge and he will need to be at his best against a field containing several proven course performers. However, the inside draw, valuable apprentice allowance and return to a familiar track could all work in his favour. If our boy can break sharply, settle into a good rhythm and show the same battling qualities that carried him to victory last month, another bold showing could well be on the cards.

Fingers crossed Aspire To Glory can produce another gutsy performance and give Coral Racing Club members even more to cheer about!
