Raceday LIVE Preview
It's a quick return to action for Aspire To Glory following his 8th place finish at Chelmsford last week, but trainer Alice Haynes is hoping that the step back down in trip from a mile to seven furlongs will give him a chance of going close in today's contest.
Darragh Keenan, who rode Aspire To Glory at Chelmsford, had this to say in his post-race interview:
"He travelled through the race pretty sweetly, I was very happy with him as we turned for home and I actually thought OK let's go win the race, but then he just seem to put the brakes on a little bit and didn't kick on."
All of Aspire To Glory's best efforts have come over the 7f distance, including his back-to-back victories this time last year at Kempton and Lingfield, and with his handicap mark now at a career low 45, if he can get a good tow into the race and re-discover the form he's shown previously over today's trip, then we're hopeful he can put in another good performance.
The experienced Kieran O'Neill takes the reins today, who was in fact the jockey who rode Aspire To Glory on his debut all the way back in May last year. The 37-year-old has plenty of experience with Aspire To Glory as he rode him a further three times in competitive action last year, and he has also done plenty of work with him at Alice's yard in Newmarket, so that should stand him in good stead come later today.

It's becoming a little bit of an unfortunate theme with some of our Coral Racing Club runners of late, but Aspire To Glory has been given stall 11 to break from today, so Kieran will have a job of getting him in a decent position without losing too much ground on the front runners after they break from the gates.
Our three-year-old will face 11 rivals in today's race, including two course and distance winners and a further five previous winners over seven furlongs, so despite it being a low-level handicap, it should still be a competitive one.
Raceday update from trainer Alice Haynes
"Hi team, I hope everyone involved with the Club had a lovely Christmas. Boxing Day is always a special day on the horse racing calendar, and I am delighted to provide the Coral Racing Club with a runner at Wolverhampton this afternoon.
We are dropping Aspire To Glory back down to 7f, a distance he has been successful over twice before. Unfortunately, we haven’t been handed the greatest of draws, but we are playing around with his headgear a little to see if we can find some improvement. He will be wearing blinkers pacifiers, and we are keeping on the hood and tongue-tie.
Ideally, they will go quick in this race, as they normally do at Wolverhampton. We will slot him in the field and hope they fall apart in front of him. He is in good form at home, and I am hoping we can have a Christmas winner.
Good luck all."

Aspire To Glory ran below form at Chelmsford last week and will need a major upturn in performance to get competitive from what looks a difficult draw in stall 11. Eyeshields are added to the headgear combination for the first time, in addition to the hood, blinkers and tongue tie that he wore at Chelmsford and the obvious hope is that something different again sparks him into reproducing his best form, on which he would have a chance. However, right now it does seem to be a case of more hope than expectation that Aspire To Glory can find his best.
Recent Chelmsford winner Match Anthem is well drawn in stall 2 and remains well-treated, though it’s notable that his very best efforts have come at Chelmsford so whether that form is reproduced here may be open to question. Ash Wednesday hasn’t had much racing but has found his form the last twice so looks likely to be competitive again, while Monsieur Fantasia is working his way into form and should be ready to go close soon, though getting the start right is the key for him.
Trainer and Jockey Statistics
Alice Haynes and her team will still be on a high going into the Boxing Day action after having a 66/1 winner at Lingfield on Sunday. Wolverhampton has been Alice's most successful all-weather track so far this year with 10 winners and a further 11 top three finishes, so hopefully Aspire To Glory can go close to adding to those figures later today.
Kieran O'Neill has been busy on the all-weather over the past two weeks notching up 43 rides in total. From those efforts, he's ridden 2 winners at Southwell and Wolverhampton, including one for Alice Haynes.
Aspire To Glory's Owners for the Day
As winners of the recent Owner for the Day competition, 10 lucky Coral Racing Club members have been given the chance to enjoy an exclusive owners experience for Aspire To Glory's run at Wolverhampton this evening.
Each winner, along with a guest of their choosing, will receive free entry to Wolverhampton Racecourse, including exclusive access to Owners & Trainers areas. They'll have the opportunity to meet Aspire To Glory and the Alice Haynes team, plus get to head into the parade ring before the race begins to be amongst all the other owners, trainers and jockeys.
