Raceday LIVE Preview
Katalyst continues her journey at Kempton this evening, in the last race on the card over a new distance for our filly, a mile and a half. Our three-year-old managed to get herself in the Winners' Enclosure three starts ago, also at Kempton but over a furlong shorter. However, in her two runs since she hasn't been able to make as much of an impact, despite being ridden in a similar manner. She was raised by 2lbs in the handicap following her success, a mark that was only reduced by 1lb after her most recent effort. That difference, albeit slight, could have had an impact on her ability to see out races, as she faded in the final stages in those last two runs, whereas she stayed on well in the final furlong of her victory. Her subsequent drop could aid her here, as well as the step up in trip, if she can get into an early rhythm and not burn too much energy during the first mile of the race.
Ryan Kavanagh takes the reins on Katalyst for the fifth time, and it was with the talented young conditional onboard that she managed to finish second by a short-head at Nottingham earlier in the year. That was the first time they partnered up and in the run immediately after they were only a length and a half behind the winner back in fourth place. It's certainly a positive jockey booking, with Kavanagh having proven in the past that he can get the best out of Katalyst and we'll all be hoping that the dynamic duo will be celebrating another win following the race.
The opposition
Today's field is made up of the maximum of 14 runners, with a range of different opponents in the field for Katalyst to take on. Seven maidens will be taking to the all-weather at Kempton tonight, including handicap debutants Emerald Spirit and Pseudonym. Top weight in today's contest, Kurios Lady is also a maiden, and has dropped from an opening mark of 70, down to 65, in her last five runs. Three former distance winners line up, Foinix, Head Girl & Little Miss India, whilst Three Socks on, for Roger Teal and Lewis Edmunds, looks to land his third victory having scored in back-to-back all-weather contests earlier in the year.

Trainer and Jockey Statistics
William Muir and Chris Grassick scored with Enricher just two days ago at Wolverhampton and will be looking to keep up a similar level of form as we head further into September. The pair have an 11% strike-rate at Kempton although that figure for 2026 to date is slightly lower at 9% with the duo scoring three times from 33 runners at the course.
Ryan Kavanagh hasn't ridden a winner in the last fortnight, but is sat on 32 wins for 2026 from 321 rides. Of those wins, two have come from 20 rides at Kempton, right on par with his overall strike-rate, whilst one more win will take him to six overall at Kempton over the course of his career, of which he would have scored half this year.
