Raceday LIVE Preview
Katalyst is back at Nottingham this evening and after coming within a whisker of victory here last time, there is plenty to be excited about as our filly lines up in the 19:15! She takes her place in an eight-runner Class 6 handicap over 1m2f with Ryan Kavanagh once again in the saddle. Katalyst carries 9st 4lb and races from an official mark of 60 with Ryan taking off a valuable 3lb.
Back to the scene of that thrilling finish!
Katalyst certainly knows her way around Nottingham. When she was here on the 21st of July, she produced a cracking performance to finish second by just a short head to Takeitorleaveit over 1m1f.
Katalyst was briefly outpaced as the race began to develop but she rallied strongly inside the final furlong, moved into second place close to home and challenged all the way to the line. She was beaten by the smallest of margins and returned at 22/1.
There is another familiar face in tonight's line-up too. Beauty Generation, who finished just half a length behind Katalyst in third that afternoon, is back for another crack at her.
Ryan Kavanagh retains the ride and theirs is a partnership that really seems to be blossoming, with the pair developing a greater understanding of each other every time they head out onto the track.
Ryan has been delighted with Katalyst and she appears to be growing in confidence with every experience.
Physically, she is developing too. She's strengthening into her frame and increasingly looks the athlete – a filly who seems to be thriving on her racing and learning all the time. Tonight's extra furlong provides another interesting test and she returns to Nottingham with more experience under her belt than when she went so agonisingly close here three weeks ago.
Who are the dangers?
There's plenty of competition among the eight runners. Daretobedifferent heads the three-year-olds in the weights from a mark of 65 and has Marco Ghiani aboard while Diane Chasseresse, rated 63, makes her handicap debut for Owen Burrows with Callum Rodriguez riding.
Bradbury is another interesting contender. Rated 62, he has two wins among his recent form figures and is already a winner over tonight's trip. Tommo's Ginjaninja also races from 62 while The Anthony Gover sits just a pound above Katalyst on 61.
Stablemate Midnight Media completes the field alongside Katalyst towards the bottom of the weights. However, we have already seen what Katalyst can do around Nottingham and there is a real feeling that this filly is continuing to move in the right direction. She came within a whisker last time. She's stronger, she's growing in confidence and she's reunited with a jockey that knows her well. Can Katalyst go one better tonight?
