Raceday LIVE Preview

Katalyst heads back to Nottingham this afternoon for the 16:15, with connections hoping a return to a track where she has previously shown promise can spark a return to form. She did produce one of her better efforts over this course earlier in the season when finishing a creditable fourth, showing plenty of determination throughout the contest. While her two subsequent starts have been disappointing, including her latest outing at Kempton where she never really travelled or got involved, she's come out of that race well and connections are happy to put a line through the performance.

Today's contest presents a couple of new factors that could work in her favour. The step up slightly in trip may suit, while the small six-runner field should ensure she has every chance to settle into a rhythm. Nottingham's well-watered turf is also expected to provide fair racing conditions and she'll be hoping to show the level of ability she demonstrated here back in May.

It's an interesting little contest, with Sahm Naif arriving in search of a hat-trick after two recent victories and looking the one to beat despite carrying a penalty. Beauty Generation is another capable rival who showed what he can do when winning over this course earlier this month, while the consistent Takeitorleaveit could prove dangerous if allowed an uncontested lead, having gone close at Epsom on his latest start.

Katalyst will need to rediscover her earlier Nottingham form to feature but she's back at a venue that has suited her before and with several conditions looking more favourable this afternoon, connections will be hoping she can produce a much-improved performance.

Best of luck to all of Katalyst's owners this afternoon.

Racing TV Analyst, Chris Dixon, gives us his thoughts on Katalyst's chances at Nottingham this evening and who he thinks might be involved at the finish;

Katalyst
ran well from out of the blue at this track back in May and similar sudden upturn in performance is going to be required if she’s to get any way competitive here. In two starts since that fourth place finish she’s failed to beat a rival, firstly over the same course and distance in June and then when returned to the all-weather at Kempton two weeks ago. That latest run is the biggest concern as she seemed to take little interest from and early stage and was tailed off. This is a slight drop in grade and a small step up in trip so there’s a couple of slightly different factors that may help but she essentially needs to show a better attitude and is difficult to fancy.

Beauty Generation has also shown a less than exemplary attitude on plenty of occasions in the past but was on a going day here at the start of the month and if in the same form would have a strong chance, while Shame Naif has won his last two and though probably badly in under a penalty for a narrow win at Redcar on Sunday he’s going the right way and is in top form. That pair have an obvious chance but this is often a track that favours horses on the pace and with the prospect of an easy lead Takeitorleaveit looks of interest. He’s been very consistent this season and was only just touched off by an improver at Epsom last time so off just a pound higher mark must have a solid chance.
