Raceday LIVE Preview

Phoenix Of Dreams made his long awaited return to the racecourse last month, putting in a fantastic performance to finish second at Southwell in what was his first run for almost five months. The race was rather reminiscent of a few of Phoenix Of Dreams' early efforts, where he continued to run into a well handicapped horse (or horses) and finished clear of the field but behind one or two others that were clearly a level above. This time, that rival was Feel The Need, who scraped into the contest off top weight having not been adjusted after an impressive performance at Doncaster, where he finished a mere ½ length behind the winner of the Leger Legends race.

Needless to say we were all impressed by Phoenix Of Dreams' efforts at Southwell, and it's testament to the work that John & Sean Quinn have put in behind the scenes during Phoenix Of Dreams time off, to make sure his fitness is up to scratch and that his mind is in the right place going forward.

Today's contest provides a slightly different challenge for our five-year-old, as he lines up in a full field of fourteen, with a handy draw in stall six, right in the middle of the field. Today will also mark the first time that Phoenix Of Dreams has ran at Kempton, which is relatively surprising given the amount of courses that he has competed at, and the amount of running he's done in the autumn/winter months throughout the course of his career. He has however won over today's distance, at Newcastle in March of this year, which should stand him in good stead tonight. PHoenix Of Dreams isn't the only former winner over seven furlongs in the field, with Angels' Share, Majestic Wave and Rey De La Batalla all having found success over the trip. Zero Carbon, tonight's top weighted competitor, is the only one of Phoenix Of Dreams' rivals that's been successful over course and distance, which will likely make him one to watch.

Trainer and Jockey Statistics

John and Sean Quinn have only saddled two winners in the last fortnight, with both of those coming at Ayr on the first day of their Gold Cup Meeting. Unsurprisingly for the Yorkshire based training duo, they haven't sent many runners to Kempton in their career since Sean joined the license, with just six runners resulting in no wins. Phoenix Of Dreams will be the Quinns' second runner of the year at the course, following positive thoughts earlier on the card.

Rowan Scott has picked up six winners from his last 35 rides in the last two weeks, with one of those wins coming last night. Rowan Scott will be looking to add to his sole victory at Kempton this evening, as well as landing his first win of the year at the course.
