Raceday LIVE Preview
It's been two weeks since Phoenix Of Dreams made his seasonal reappearance at Ayr in what was a very satisfying performance, given that he was facing some in-form competition off of a lay-off of over 200 days. Phoenix Of Dreams finished fourth that day, having been prominent for large amounts of the race, before struggling to find racing room behind a wall of horses with around two furlongs to travel.

When jockey Jason Hart managed to pull him out to find a gap, our four-year-old found an extra gear and took off in pursuit of the leaders. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to close in quick enough on the front three, but it was still an incredibly promising performance to kick off his season.

Based on that contest, Phoenix Of Dreams looks to have improved for his winter break and has matured as a horse during his time off, with some size and strength being added to his wheelhouse for the second season of his racing career. At Ayr, he recorded an RPR of 83, which is the second highest rating he's received in that regard, only topped by an 84 given to him for his run at Newcastle last season where he was beaten into third in a blanket finish, only a neck behind the winner of the race.
Today's race at Windsor is set to be similarly strong, given that it's a qualifying race for the Windsor Sprint Series. The Series Final, which takes place in August, is worth a whopping £75,000 in total prize money and Phoenix Of Dreams would need to finish in the top six today in order to qualify for the contest, which could end up being one of his targets at the back end of this season.
He will have to face some stiff competition this evening however with Expert Agent, who has won his last two races, likely to be the main danger to Phoenix Of Dreams' chances. Incidentally, the Stuart Williams trained gelding won one of these qualifiers last year and raced in the Series Final, finishing 11th of the 16 runners on that day. William Buick takes the reins on Iconic Times tonight, as he goes for back-to-back wins having scored at Kempton last time out, albeit in a lower grade contest. Of the other runners, Safari Dream could be of interest for Rod Millman and Oisin Murphy. The gelding comes in off the back of a 6th place finish over course and distance last time out, but had landed a hat-trick between Salisbury and Chelmsford in his three runs prior to that.
The ground is set to be on the softer side of good, after a weather system came in over the weekend releasing a heavy amount of rain. That should play into Phoenix Of Dreams' hands, as we know he performs well when there's a little bit of juice in the ground. He's also been handily drawn in stall 10, which although the widest of all, provides the best advantage for runners when the stalls are positioned in the centre of the course.

Chris Dixon, Racing TV analyst, previews this evening's race at Windsor and gives his opinion on Phoenix Of Dreams' chances
Phoenix Of Dreams ran very well on his seasonal return at Ayr two weeks ago and looks to have a strong chance of building on that here. Taking on some race-fit and in-form rivals at Ayr following a 217 day gap between runs, Phoenix Of Dreams raced enthusiastically in a prominent pitch but didn’t get a clear passage through late on and was value for being closer in what appeals as a solid piece of form for the grade. This arguably doesn’t look as strong and with a statistically advantageous draw at a track that should play to his strengths I’m expecting a good run, especially if the forecast rain arrives and conditions ease to good to soft or slower.
Slower conditions would potentially be an inconvenience to Cindy Lou Who, a filly coming into the race in great form and still feasibly handicapped but with below par runs on a couple of outings with give in the ground, while Iconic Times, another form danger after a tidy win last time, is yet to show his form on turf and might have a tricky draw in stall one. Expert Agent is on a roll so is respected but Phoenix Of Dreams looks the one they all have to beat.
Trainer and Jockey Statistics
John & Sean Quinn have picked up the pace a little bit in recent weeks, sending 30 horses out in the last fortnight, with two of those winning, including Pink Amazlea at Ripon on Saturday. The father and son duo have had 20 winners from their 197 runners this season so far, and interestingly, Phoenix Of Dreams will be the pair's first horse to run at Windsor since Sean became co-trainer at the beginning of 2024.
Jason Hart has been incredibly busy over the last fortnight, riding 50 times and returning with four winners. For the current season, he's operating at a very solid 16%, with 76 winners from 479 total rides. He's already picked up 365 rides for the Quinns since Sean joined the license, winning 40 times in the process, of which 11 of those have come in 2025. Unsurprisingly for a jockey based in the north, Jason Hart hasn't ridden very often at Windsor, but of his five races there he has won three an impressive three times and Phoenix Of Dreams will be his first of the season at the course, as well as his one and only ride of the day.
