Raceday LIVE Preview

Today will mark Phoenix Of Dreams' second run of the year following his latest effort which came just under two weeks ago when finishing sixth at Southwell. That was his second start following a wind operation, and despite the result, jockey Jason Hart was keen to express that he felt like it was a step back in the right direction from our five-year-old.

Phoenix Of Dreams has only ran at Wolverhampton once before, however that came in a very competitive 0-85 handicap so today's waters will be much calmer. Trainer Sean Quinn has booked the services of Sean Levey for today's contest with the hope that he can drop Phoenix Of Dreams in to help him settle and see out his race better. He's been too keen in the early stages recently and that's been a big factor as to why he hasn't been able to see out his races as strongly as we'd like.

Trainer Sean Quinn gives us his thoughts on Phoenix Of Dreams going into today's race at Wolverhampton

"Phoenix Of Dreams has been training nicely since his last run and the handicapper dropped him another pound after that effort. We stay in a 0-70 tonight and I do believe he's more than capable of winning a race of this level so I hope he's able to put his best foot forward.

We're drawn in stall 6 which I don't mind, I think we'll be able to tuck in no problem. I'd like Sean Levey to sit quiet on him in the stalls so he doesn't ping out the gates as we'd like to get a bit of cover to help him settle.

For a 0-70 this isn't a bad race at all. There's a few horses who look dangerously handicapped, including Water Of Leith and Brave Empire, but the same applies to us so I hope it can be our turn this evening."

Racing TV Analyst, Chris Dixon, provides an exclusive preview of tonight's 19:00 at Wolverhampton

Phoenix Of Dreams couldn’t fare any better on his second start following wind surgery and a short break at Southwell two weeks ago and it’s hard to have confidence he’s about the make an impact in what looks a fairly competitive race for the grade. If he is to show more he’ll probably need to settle better but I wonder if he may be of more interest down in grade in a couple of runs time.

There’s no shortage of interesting horses among the opposition here, including the hat-trick seeking Zoulu Warrior who seems to be progressing well. Water Of Leith was in behind him at Wolverhampton last time and gets a 4lbs pull at the weights so looks of interest off an attractive mark, especially as he seemed to finish the race with more to give last time. Brave Empire hasn’t won for a while but has looked to be finding some form of late and is well-treated now, while Amerjeet looks ready to win but is a slow starter that ideally wants a strong pace to aim at and he may not get one here. On that note of pace, Phoenix Of Dreams may well get a decent position early, but whether that will be enough to see him return to his best in this his questionable right now.
