Tidal Force will make his long awaited debut for the Coral Racing Club this afternoon, when he runs in the Class 3 Novice Stakes over a mile at Haydock (14:05).

Eight rivals are set to join Tidal Force in the line-up for this afternoon's EBF Novice Stakes with six of the nine runners making their racecourse debuts.

The standout on previous form is Burning Up for trainer Karl Burke. The Too Darn Hot colt is the only previous winner in the field having made a successful debut over today's course and distance last month. That victory means he carries a 7lb penalty this afternoon and will concede weight to each of his eight rivals. Of those with previous racecourse experience Ralph Beckett's Dancing Dunes finished fifth on debut at Sandown whilst William Haggas' Under Arrest has two runs under his belt having finished fifth on both occasions.

Tidal Force is joined by five other newcomers including the Baaeed colt Sir Terry Hadley for Charlie Johnston and Zarak Crown for Richard Fahey. Kevin Ryan introduces the Lope De Vega colt Austin whilst Michael Bell's Hands To Yourself and David Menuisier's Bedford Benny Boy also make their respective debuts.

With so many of the field stepping onto a racecourse for the first time there are plenty of unknown quantities in the line-up and it promises to be an exciting starting point for Tidal Force.

Trainer Hugo Palmer is looking forwards to getting Tidal Force's racing career underway and hopes this afternoon can provide a good foundation for the future.

"Tidal Force has a nice draw for his debut at Haydock this afternoon and lines up in a competitive-looking Class 2 Novice. He will be eligible to run in lesser races than this going forward but Haydock is a nice place to introduce young horses. I think he will handle the ground and it is nice and close to home for him. Hopefully he can run a nice race and give us something to build on."

Trainer and Jockey Statistics

Hugo Palmer has enjoyed a strong season with 40 winners and more than £1.2 million in prize money so far in 2026 while 40% of his runners have performed to form over the past fortnight. His two-year-olds have been particularly productive with 15 winners on the turf this season.

David Probert is enjoying another strong season in the saddle with 59 winners and more than £1 million in prize money so far in 2026. He has also recorded 19 winners from 142 rides aboard older horses on turf with his rides in that category returning a level-stakes profit.
