Although his career is very much still in it's infancy, Tidal Force has shown a good level of improvement in his first two runs, the latter of which he managed to pick up some prize money in what was a remarkably tough assignment for just his second time on the track. Although there's an expectation that a horse as young as him will improve with every run, as they acclimatise to life on the racecourse and gain more experience and knowledge about the job at hand, it's always good to see it happen early as they should be ready to hit the ground running when they begin life in handicap contests with similarly rated horses.
The bends at Wolverhampton are relatively tight in comparison to some other courses, so the fact that Tidal Force dealt with a course that's even sharper in Chester last time out should put him in good stead heading into tonight's race. That Chester contest last weekend was always set to be a strong test, given the prize money on offer and the opposition he was set to face, so to finish in sixth, having been allowed to make his way home in his own time, is certainly a positive to take away from a tough race.

A full field of twelve go to post this evening and with it being a maiden contest, all of the runners will be bidding to record their first career victory. Of his eleven opponents, only two have come close to victory with second place finishes; Aljoon, who carries an OR of 73, and Pigeon Pete who came within a length and a quarter of winning on his debut. Three of this evening's runners are making their first racecourse appearance, including the Alan Pickering homebred, Beningbrough Hall.

Hugo Palmer has enjoyed a productive season, saddling 44 winners from 425 runners, with a further 85 horses placed. His two-year-olds have been in particularly good form on turf with 15 winners from 126 runners, and he’ll be hoping Tidal Force can continue his progression on his third career start at Wolverhampton this afternoon.
Robert Havlin has been in good form this season, riding 57 winners from 383 rides at a 15% strike rate with 148 further finishes in the first four. He also boasts an impressive 35% strike rate with two-year-olds on the all-weather this year and will be hoping to put that experience to good use aboard Tidal Force at Wolverhampton this afternoon.
