Raceday Preview
Aspire To Glory was given an opening handicap mark of 59 earlier in the month after finishing 8th on his third start for the club at Yarmouth.
In one of her latest updates, trainer Alice Haynes said the mark should be "very workable" and that she is expecting more improvement after getting another run under his belt and having progressed physically again since the Yarmouth run on the 6th July.
Kieran O'Neill has been booked for the ride this evening. This will be the third time that the jockey has partnered a Coral Racing Club horse, and the second time he’s raced onboard Aspire To Glory after taking the reins on the horse’s debut outing. Kieran is a regular rider for trainer Alice Haynes, and he has ridden 13 winners for her this season, three of which were aboard two-year-old runners.
It’s rare to see an Alice Haynes-trained runner at Ffos Las, with the Newmarket-based trainer only sending four runners there in her career so far. Aspire To Glory is one of her two runners making the 500+ mile round trip to Carmarthenshire tonight.
The ground at the Welsh track this evening will be soft, with more light rain forecast for the day. This will be the first time our gelding has run on properly soft ground, but his sire, Cotai Glory, won once and placed twice in seven runs on ground either soft or good to soft
Aspire to Glory faces nine rivals this evening with top-weight SEARCH, trained by John Butler and ridden by Darragh Keenan, being the only previous winner lining up following his win over 6f at Brighton on soft ground last month. The rest of the field are maidens, with 4 runs or less to their name.
