Raceday LIVE Preview
Aspire To Glory made his first start since the beginning of September just over two weeks ago where he finished 5th (9 ran) at Chelmsford under Darragh Keenan.
Since making his debut at Doncaster over five furlongs back in May, Aspire To Glory has continued to show progression in every start, but trainer Alice Haynes has admitted it's taken a little longer than she would've liked for him to get to grips with his job when on the track.
Alice Haynes with Aspire To Glory
However, Alice has long mentioned that Aspire To Glory will be seen to better affect over a longer trip, and he gets that today as he steps up to a mile for the first time. Having previously ran over five, six, and seven furlongs, the increased distance should hopefully allow him to settle better than he has over the shorter distances and preserve his energy for when it matters most.
Check out what Alice had to say when we caught up with her this week:
"We’re really looking forward to running Aspire To Glory over a mile, in his last race he was doing all his best work in the last furlong of seven, so an extra furlong should hopefully see him improve again.
The handicapper dropped him a couple of pounds following that last run, but I thought it was his best effort yet, it’s like the penny is slowly dropping with him, he’s understanding more and more about being a racehorse!
Kieran O’Neill sat on him on Tuesday morning ahead of declaration time and was really happy with him. They’re drawn in stall five which is fine, and there doesn’t seem to be a standout rival in the field, so more improvement from our fellow over this mile trip could see him go close."

TRAINER & JOCKEY FORM
Alice Haynes has had four winners from her last 10 runners, with three of them coming at Chelmsford.
Kieran O'Neill has ridden four winners from 24 rides (17%) in the past two weeks, with three of them being for trainer Alice Haynes.
TODAY'S OPPOSITION
- Gregorina is having just her second handicap start and has the assistance of world class jockey Oisin Murphy for the first time, so she'll be one to keep an eye on.
- Rising Force is a course winner and the only horse to claim a victory so far in the field, so he could go close for trainer Robbert Eddery if freshened up following a two-month break.
- Montecristo Gold arrives here as the highest rated horse which means he'll be carrying top weight (9st11lb). He'll be stepping up to a mile for the first time just like Aspire To Glory. Both horses ran in the same race at Chelmsford last time out, with the former finishing a length and a half in front.
