Conservative is set to make his sixth run for the Coral Racing Club today in the Doncaster 16:35 Class 4 Handicap over 1m2f.

Conservative displayed a much improved run last time out at Yarmouth where he finished 4th (10 ran) whilst carrying top weight 9st11lb, however today the pendulum swings the other way as he enters a more competitive race which means he only has to carry 9st1lb after being dropped to a mark of 70.

Phil Dennis is today's jockey and he rode Conservative at Wolverhampton in February where he finished a very pleasing 4th behind two subsequent winners – May Night and Visibility (also trained by Scott Dixon).

The ground is currently Good at Doncaster which is ideal for Conservative and trainer Scott Dixon is certainly hoping he can put his run at Doncaster at the beginning of April right behind him. 

Scott had this to say when we caught up with him on Thursday:

He has come out of his race at Yarmouth well, and there was a lot to like about that performance. I can’t get him any fitter than he is now, as he is at peak fitness, so he is ready to go again. 

I really want to be the trainer that gives the Coral Racing Club its first winner, and I hope that will be on Saturday at Doncaster.
