WATCH: Race Reflections with Nick Scholfield and Christian Williams following Cave Article's Taunton run
Cave Article made his third start for the Coral Racing Club on Tuesday this week at Taunton in the Class 4 Novices' Hurdle (14:50) over two miles and half a furlong.
Nick Scholfield took the reins for the first time onboard our gelding and quickly sent him to the front of the field, as was the case in his last run under Jack Tudor. Cave Article's jumping was slick throughout the early parts of the race, and he didn't make any errors at the obstacle the whole way round, which was very encouraging to see given it was only his third start under rules.
As the race started to heat up after the half way point, our five-year-old struggled to keep tabs on the main pack, and soon the few contenders from the top of the market started to clear away from the rest of the field.
Cave Article was allowed to come home in his own time after that, eventually finishing in 10th place (13 ran).

With it being Cave Article's third run in novice company, the main objective was to get him home in one piece, with the handicapper due to assess him for his opening mark following the race.
Providing there are no issues with his first run at Doncaster, where he was pulled up due struggling to cope with the heavy ground, he should receive his handicap rating in the coming days and Christian can plan the gelding's campaign for the next couple of months off the back of that.
