Cave Article had an easy couple of weeks after his Sedgefield win and although it was soft ground that day, I wouldn’t be keen to run him on very testing winter ground.

We didn’t need to rush him back, and instead have given him plenty of time to get over the race. He was put up seven pounds by the handicapper for that win, but I’d be hopeful he can cope with that rise, particularly on better ground.

To a large extent we’ll be guided by the weather now, obviously there’s been plenty of rain about, so nothing obvious stands out as a potential target for him in the next week, but there is a three miles race at Ludlow on Thursday 16th January. It’s for conditional jockeys and Ludlow often provides decent ground, so we’ll certainly take a look at it.

Either way, we’ll have plenty to look forward to with this fellow.
