WATCH: Conservative hits the track for a piece of work
Our latest video shows Conservative (closest to camera) striding out as Scott explains below.
The new year has started in a positive way for Conservative. He is now out every day and is moving well, which is just what we want to see after his minor injury and the subsequent treatment.
Last Saturday he did his most important piece of work since the treatment. He worked alongside one of his stablemates, Sycamore, a 7f/1m horse who is rated 70. As you can see from the video we filmed, he looked very comfortable in that gallop. Kat, who rides him regularly, said he hung left a little, which is probably a sign of the horse being cautious following his injury, but is nothing to worry about. Importantly, she told me there were no signs of him hanging his head as he did a month ago.
The plan now is to get him ready for the track. I don’t think he is far away. I am going to look at the options available to us at the end of this month. It will probably be in a 7f or 1m contest. I’d be comfortable running him over either of those distances.
