'I’ve been happy with all the work he has been doing' – latest Conservative update

17 May 2023
Conservative

The last couple of weeks have been a little frustrating when it comes to Conservative, as he has been ready to run but the ground has been too soft. The good news is, the ground is starting to dry up now.

I am aiming to run him at Yarmouth a week on Wednesday in a Class 5 Handicap over 1m2f. It's a course that should suit Conservative as there aren’t many turns during the 1m2f distance and there is a long home straight.

Hopefully they will go a good gallop there, which will suit him as he doesn’t have the same turn of foot that some horses have.

I’ve been happy with all the work he has been doing over the last couple of weeks. In an ideal world, he would have run by now, but I am keen to try turf again, that’s why I have been patient. We know the horse well now, so it is a case of finding the right race that gives him the best chance of victory.
