Conservative update: It's time to see what he's truly capable of
It’s been another good week for Conservative on the gallops.
He is still on target to appear at Wolverhampton on December 5th in a 7f contest. I’ve seen nothing in his work that suggests he won’t be ready for that race.I am going to do a piece of work with him on Wednesday or Friday this week where I will step up the intensity. This will be his toughest test so far, and as long as he comes through that ok, it will be all systems go for that race in early December.
We don’t push horses to their limits every day on the gallops, as that would take too much out of them. More often than not, they are working at what we call three-quarter speed. But in Conservative’s work this week, I just want to see what he is truly capable of.
There is no all-weather racing this week, so the jockeys get a few days off. But it is business as usual for us trainers. I had a winner last week at Southwell, which was nice. Fine Wine came back from injury to win a decent race. Hopefully, there will be a few more winners for the yard over the next few weeks as my horses look in good form at home.
